Mineral Wells Downtown (Mineral Wells)
Once a hot spot vacation destination thanks to its healing (or “crazy”) mineral waters, the town of Mineral Wells suffered a demise in the 1970s after the area’s large military base and the renowned Baker Hotel closed. Half a century later, the historic downtown is finally seeing a resurgence. The Baker Hotel is under construction to reopen as a hotel and spa resort, and other empty historic buildings now host over 50 new small businesses. Hopes that the “crazy” water will bring back tourism is strong, and The Crazy Water Hotel is already drawing people in.
