Museum of the Big Bend (Alpine)
Forget your past impressions of small-town museums because this historic destination located on Sul Ross State University campus is a first-class Texas institution. Built in 1937 and renovated in the early 2000s, the museum just doubled in space with a recent expansion. In addition to its permanent collection, with rarely seen paintings from El Paso artist Tom Lea, this Alpine stop also has must-see exhibitions featuring notables like Frederick Remington and Charles Russell.
