San Antonio Zoo

At 108 years old, San Antonio Zoo welcomes more than 1.2 million guests each year. The property is built into the limestone quarry that constructed the Alamo, with many historical designations throughout. In 2022, San Antonio Zoo was voted the #2 zoo in the nation by Blooloop for conservation, animal welfare, and education efforts.

In the largest growing stage of its history, the zoo has hit many milestones in the last year, including opening a new South American realm, NEOTROPICA. The centerpiece of NEOTROPICA is a world’s-first design, Pantera Walk, that allows jaguars 120% more room to roam, paired with incredible views and learning opportunities for guests. Other additions include a vibrant, award-winning parking garage and historic diesel-style train on a 2-mile track around Brackenridge Park and the San Antonio River. An anchor to San Antonio Zoo’s exciting attractions includes the nation’s first children’s amusement park and the nation’s first interactive design providing young children (0-5) with exploring experiences featuring wildlife!
