Travel may have screeched to a near halt in 2020, but that doesn’t mean the industry took a nap. Austin Visitor Center worked continuously to adapt, increase support of local businesses, and provide up-to-date information to visitors. From launching a face mask “Buy One, Give One” initiative to benefit the local hospitality industry and selling items from local businesses and makers through contactless pick-up to creating events like the Austin Table Virtual Cookbook (which raised $17,000 for local restaurants), the Visitor Center gets kudos for keeping tourism afloat under the most challenging of circumstances.
