Fort Concho National Historic Landmark

San Angelo

Seeking an experiential and exciting crash course in Old West history? As the former headquarters for some of the most famous frontier units, including all four regiments of the Buffalo Soldiers and the 10th Cavalry, Fort Concho played a key role in the settlement of West Texas and remains one of the state’s most important historical sites. Established in 1867 along the banks of the Concho River, the fort provides reenactments, artillery demonstrations, and colorful events like the beloved Christmas at Old Fort Concho, now in its 49th year.
